Mr. Mercer joined R&P as Director of Technical, Industrial and Rapid Prototyping Operations in 2018. He has over 30 years of Naval experience with hands-on experience managing people and resources to build, test, operate and support technically complex naval vessels and systems for Navy ACAT I shipbuilding programs. Having last served as the ASN (RD&A) Director, Rapid Prototyping and Experimentation, Mr. Mercer’s Navy career included Ship Repair Project Manager at SUPSHIP Portsmouth; Strategic Sealift Post Delivery Program Manager’s Representative; Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Branch Head/Ship Material Condition Readiness Officer for U.S. Atlantic Fleet; DD(X) Integrated Power Systems (IPS) Project Officer; SEA 05 Total Ship Power Division Officer; LPD 17 Class Production Officer; and LCS Production/Test/Post Delivery Director. As a Captain, he served as the Major Program Manager for the Amphibious Warfare Program (PMS 377). Mr. Mercer earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy in 1988; and his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Total Ship Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1996.
