Dr. Riedel joined R&P as the Chief Operating Officer and VP of Naval Programs in 2013 and was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in January 2021. With over 27 years of Naval service, Dr. Riedel has a wealth of business and engineering experience in managing highly complex shipbuilding programs. While on active duty, he oversaw the construction, testing, trials, delivery and fleet introduction of five (5) first of class ships. He served as the Production Officer at SUPSHIP Bath, DDG 51 Class Chief Engineer, DDG 51 Class Post Delivery Manager and LPD 17 Class Production/Test/Technical Director. As a Captain, Dr. Riedel managed two major Navy shipbuilding programs; Amphibious Warfare Program (PMS 377) and Littoral Combat Ship Program (PMS 501). Dr. Riedel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy in 1986; and his Master and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1993 and 1999, respectively.
